PRESIDENT

Suntharamoorthy Umasuthan

Mr. Suntharamoorthy Umasuthan is a Chartered Accountant from Sri Lanka and a Certified member of the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario. Umasuthan has over 30 years of experience in Accounting, Tax and Management from various parts of the world, including Sri Lanka, Zambia, Saudi Arabia and Canada. Umasuthan is also involved in many Community Organizations. He has served as President of few NPOs including Sithankerny Ontrium Cultural Association of Ontario, Jaffna College Alumni Association of Toronto, Canadian Association of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, and Past General Secretary of the Thamil Isai Kalaamanram of Ontario. Umasuthan lives in Toronto with his wife and daughter.

VICE-PRESIDENT

Juanita Nathan

Ms. Juanita Nathan was elected to position of Markham Ward7/8 Public School Board Trustee in 2010 and is a Community Youth Outreach Worker with YOUTHLINK, Family Services of York Region, and Social Services Network of York Region. Her strong desire to help young people overcome challenges precipitated her deep involvement in community and pushed her to pursue a career in the social services sector. Juanita dedicates her time and energy striving to make positive changes in the lives of youth, parents and seniors. After graduating from Brock University with a BA Psychology, Juanita went on to complete a special project for the Ministry of Attorney General focusing on domestic abuse. Her record on community involvement and grass roots engagement in many organizations including the York Region Equity Council, the Canadian Tamil Congress and the Markham Tamil Organization is exceptional.

SECRETARY

Vani Selvarajah

Ms Vani Selvarajah is a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Laws program from the University of Alberta and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo. With work experience in various Toronto-based law firms, she is looking to focus on immigration law. Her extensive volunteer experiences include working with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre, as a Caseworker with Student Legal Services at the University of Alberta and a Media Spokesperson for the Canadian Tamil Congress. She is passionate about advocating for the rights for refugees and immigrants.

TREASURER

Vadivelu Santhakumar

Dr. Vadivelu Santhakumar is a Family Physician and Owner of the Centre City Medical Clinic, serving patients in Mississauga and Brampton. He is one of the founders and current Board member (Past Chairman) of the Canadian Medical Dental Development Association (CMDDA) and the Medical Institute for Tamils (MIFT) an organization representing the expatriate medical and professional community established in 1998. Through his work as a committed partner of various community organizations, he has lead and participated in diverse initiatives. Raising funds for Medical rehabilitation for disaster and civil war victims, Medical equipment and, infrastructure building for hospitals in Sri Lanka, Supporting events for local hospital foundations and senior homes, Running public community health education seminars, coordinating local culturally sensitive media health education are just to name a few activities. He is a medical graduate from the first graduating class 1984 of the University of Jaffna in Sri Lanka.

Raj Thavaratnasingham

Mr. Raj Thavaratnasingham is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, a graduate of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS, Pilani) in India. Raj has strong interest in advocating for volunteerism and political engagement: his many volunteer positions include serving in two Boards - Planned Giving Committee & Community Fund Raising Committee for the Rouge Valley Health System Foundation, Program Advisory Committee Member - Centennial College's School of Business Administration; and the Secretary of the Association of Sri Lankan Gradates of Canada. Raj has also received the Ontario Volunteer Service Award and in 2011 was awarded the "Urban Hero" award in Health & Science for his work with the hospital by the Scarborough Mirror.

Kumar Ratnam

Mr. Kumar Ratnam is a management consultant with over twenty years of experience in planning & managing business transformation and process improvements projects for Fortune-100 companies. His projects have taken him to all continents, except the Arctic, to work and deliver excellence to diverse environments with social and cultural challenges. He currently owns an IT consulting firm based in Toronto. A graduate of the Baruch College of the City University of New York, Kumar has been actively involved with many volunteer and political advocacy organizations in Canada and the United States. He was also a founding officer and was instrumental in starting up the Canadian Tamil Chamber of Commerce. A creative writer and critique, Kumar has published several short stories and essays in reputed magazines & newspapers from India, Sri Lanka and Canada.

BOARD OF DIRECTOR

Priya Jeganathan

Dr.Priya Jeganathan is a practicing dentist in Toronto. Priya is a firm believer in volunteerism and has been actively involved with various volunteer positions throughout her education, some of which include being Vice President of the UBC Dental Undergraduate Society, a volunteer dentist in Brazil, and in more recent years, a core volunteer with the Canadian Tamil Congress. She was the Chair for the walkathon campaign benefitting the Canadian Cancer Society and Co-Chair for the Amnesty International campaign and the Center for Addiction and Mental Health campaign.
