Happy 145th Canada!!!!
The Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) is proud to once again be a part of the celebrations taking place across this glorious nation of ours. This year, CTC will be taking part in two parades, which we urge all of our members and friends to attend.1) CTC invites you to join us in the Tamil Canadian float at Scarborough’s 45th annual Canada Day Parade. More than 10,000 people witness this parade which features marching bands, drum & bugle corps, Miss Toronto, antique cars, clowns and a wide variety of floats. The march begins (west of the Scarborough Civic Centre) on Brimley Road, ending at Lawrence Ave. E. and Brimley Rd. at approx 5:30 p.m.
At 6 pm the Tamil Canadian float will arrive at Birunthan Park for activities and performances. Birunthan Park is named after a young Tamil Canadian Birunthan Muralitharan Nadarajah who died on December 10, 2006 trying to save his friend.
Basement Sound Crew has been successful in organizing the Tamil Canadian float in the Scarborough Canada Day parade for the last 8 years. This year the Canadian Tamil Congress joins Basement Sound Crew in Scarborough Canada Day Parade and activities in Birunthan park.
2) We will once again join the Canada Day Parade in Markham. Walkers will assemble at Markville Mall: North West corner McCowan Rd and Highway 7 on Sunday July 1st 2012 between 3 pm and 3:30 pm.
