Update on CTC’s COVID-19 Food Relief Effort in the Jaffna District of Sri Lanka

May 9, 2020.

On May 5th  & 6th , a total 250 families from Thirunelveli (J/110) GN division of Nallur DS division, Avarankal East (J/276) GN division of Kopay DS division, Mallakam (J/212) GN division of Tellippalai DS division, Muthaliyar Thoddam (J/90) GN division of Jaffna Town DS division,  Uduvil (Uthayasooriyan) (J/185) GN division and Mayilankadu & Kupplan (J/210) GN division of Uduvil DS division of Jaffna district  received the food relief packages from Tamil Canadians.

Upon request of Saloon workers society, Jaffna town based 30 Saloon workers also received the food relief packages.

Each relief package for one family contained 5 kg of Rice, 2 kg of Flour, 1 kg of Sugar, 1 kg of Lentils and 250 grams of Tea.

This effort is being implemented by the North and East Economic Development (NEED) Centre with the support of local community leaders and volunteers.
