Update on CTC’s COVID-19 Food Relief for Refugee Returnee families from India from the Trincomalee District of Sri Lanka.

May 11, 2020.

A total 96 of families, consisting of 252 family members who returned from India recently (Between January 2019 and February 2020) to the Trincomalee District in Sri Lanka were provided food relief by Tamil Canadians through the Canadian Tamil Congress. These families do not have the support to face the current COVID-19 pandemic challenges and the hard lock-down in Sri Lanka. This effort was partly sponsored by Nava Wilson Professional Law Corporation in Canada.

The food relief distribution in the ground was coordinated and implemented by the OfERR-Ceylon in the first week of May 2020.

Each relief package for one family contained 5 kg of Rice, 2 kg of Flour, 2 kg of Sugar, 100 grams of Tea, 2 packs of soya meat and 1 bar of soap.

Please continue to support to CTC’s COVID-19 Food Relief in the worst affected regions of the North and East of Sri Lanka.
