Join the Tamil Canadian Campaign for the Canadian Cancer Society and help in the fight against cancer. This campaign is being kick-started to raise awareness about cancer prevention, treatment and support, and raise funds for research to end cancer.

The marquee event of this campaign is the Tamil Canadian Walk-A-Thon for the Canadian Cancer Society. Scheduled for September 19, 2010, the CTC-coordinated Walk-A-Thon will bring together thousands in our community from youth to seniors. The event will also feature a 5K walk/run, cultural performances (dances, songs), speeches and activities for participants of all-ages.

The stakes have never been higher. Based on current incidence rates, the Canadian Cancer Society estimates that 40 per cent of Canadian women and 45 per cent of men will develop cancer during their lifetimes. An estimated 1 out of every 4 Canadians are expected to die from cancer, the organization reports.

That is why your support is critical in the fight against cancer. Proceeds from the campaign will go directly towards the Canadian Cancer Society, whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of quality of life for people living with cancer.
