Canadian Tamil Congress Outlines Strategic Vision for 2025 and Beyond

Toronto, ON – June 30, 2025 – The Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) conducted a strategic consultation through an online survey to outline its vision for 2025 and beyond, reaffirming its commitment to advancing the social, economic, and cultural interests of Tamil Canadians, and to supporting the rebuilding of Sri Lanka’s North and East.

The survey emphasized building on the success of event-driven initiatives by integrating a broader, value-based framework aimed at enhancing long-term impact and sustained community development. This approach complements CTC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen good governance, ensure strong representation, promote social and economic empowerment, and preserve Tamil language, culture, and history.

Through the survey findings, CTC highlighted several flagship events including the Tamil Heritage Month Dinner, International Women’s Day Celebration, May Tamil Genocide Remembrance, Black July Commemoration, and Tamil Fest which will continue serving as vital platforms for community engagement and cultural celebration. The organization also reaffirmed its commitment to microeconomic development in Sri Lanka, underscoring its role in rebuilding war-affected regions.
The public survey was posted and shared on the CTC website for ninety days. The survey allowed members of the community to weigh in on the four pillars and share any feedback. The survey revealed strong support for the four pillars and identified key areas of concern, including:

Fragmentation and lack of unity among Tamil organizations
Youth mental health and senior care
Economic challenges and newcomer support
Crime and safety within the community
The need for proactive, strategic leadership

In response, CTC will continue to promote unity and collaboration, engage in local advocacy efforts, and undertake proactive, strategic planning. Working committees will be established to help implement sustainable, community led solutions.

*டொரொண்டோ, ஒன்ராறியோ – 2025 ஜூன் 30* – கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவை (CTC), 2025 மற்றும் அதற்குப் பிந்தைய காலத்திற்கான தங்கள் நோக்கத்தைப் பிரதிபலிக்கும் வகையில், இணையவழி ஆலோசனை அறிக்கையை முன்வைத்து, கனடாவில் வாழும் தமிழரின் சமூக, பொருளாதார மற்றும் பண்பாட்டு நலன்களை மேம்படுத்துவதற்கும், இலங்கையின் வடக்கு மற்றும் கிழக்கு பகுதிகளில் மீளமைப்புக்கு ஆதரவளிப்பதற்கும் தங்களை முழுமையாக அர்ப்பணித்துள்ளதை மீண்டும் உறுதிப்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

இந்தக் கருத்துக் கணிப்பு நிகழ்வுகளின் வெற்றியை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு, நீண்டகால சமூக வளர்ச்சியை உறுதி செய்யும் மதிப்புகள் சார்ந்த அணுகுமுறையை ஒருங்கிணைக்க கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவை முனைந்துள்ளது. நல்லாட்சியை வலுப்படுத்தல், உறுதியான பிரதிநிதித்துவம், சமூகப் பொருளாதார அதிகாரமளிப்பு, தமிழ் மொழி, பண்பாடு மற்றும் வரலாற்றைப் பாதுகாப்பது போன்ற மைய நோக்குகளின் தொடர்ச்சியாக இதுவும் அமைகிறது.

CTC தனது பல முக்கிய நிகழ்வுகளைத் தங்கள் பணியின் அங்கமாகக் முன்வைத்துள்ளது. தமிழர் மரபுத்திங்கள் விருந்துவிழா, சர்வதேச மகளிர் தினக் கொண்டாட்டம், மே மாத தமிழ் இனப்படுகொலை நினைவு நாள், கறுப்பு ஜூலை நினைவு நிகழ்வு மற்றும் தமிழர் தெருவிழா (Tamil Fest) போன்றவை சமூக ஈடுபாட்டிற்கும், பண்பாட்டு கொண்டாட்டத்திற்கும் முக்கிய தளங்களாக தொடர்ந்து இருக்கும்.

இதேவேளை இலங்கையில் சிறு அளவிலான பொருளாதார மேம்பாட்டுக்கான உறுதிமொழியையும், வளர்ச்சிக்கான CTC யின் உறுதிமொழியும் இதன்போது மீண்டும் வலியுறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளதோடு போரால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பகுதிகளை மீளமைப்பதில் CTC யின் பங்கும் தெளிவுபடுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

CTC இணையதளத்தில் பொதுமக்கள் கருத்துக்கணிப்பு 90 நாட்களுக்கு பகிரப்பட்டு, தமிழர்களின் நான்கு முக்கிய தளங்களைப் (pillars) பற்றிய கருத்துக்களும் பதில்களும் சேகரிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.. கணிப்பின் முடிவுகள் நான்கு தளங்களுக்கும் வலுவான ஆதரவு இருப்பதைக் காட்டியதுடன், சில முக்கிய பிரச்சனைகளை அடையாளம் காட்டியிருந்தது. அவையாவன:

தமிழர் அமைப்புகளிடையே கண்ணியமின்மை மற்றும் ஒற்றுமையின்மை
இளைஞர்களின் மனநலம் மற்றும் மூத்த குடிமக்கள் பராமரிப்பு
பொருளாதார சவால்கள் மற்றும் புதிய குடிவரவாளர்களுக்கான ஆதரவு
சமூகத்தில் குற்றம் மற்றும் பாதுகாப்பு
முன்தொடர்புடைய, மூலோபாயமான தலைமையின் தேவை

இதற்கான செயல் திட்டமாக ஒற்றுமை மற்றும் ஒத்துழைப்பை மேம்படுத்துவதற்கும், உள்ளூர் வாதங்களை முன்னெடுத்து செயல்படுவதற்கும், சிறந்த திட்டமிடல்களை முன்னெடுத்து செயட்படுத்த CTC தயாராகவுள்ளது. இதனை சரியாக நடைமுறைப்படுத்த சமூக இயக்கத்தில் மக்களை ஈடுபடுத்தும் நிலையான தீர்வுகளை நடைமுறைப்படுத்துவதற்கான பணிக்குழுக்கள் உருவாக்கப்படும்.

“ஒற்றுமை, அதிகாரம் மற்றும் உறுதியுடன் நிறைந்த கனடிய தமிழ் சமூகத்தை உருவாக்குவதற்காக CTC உறுதியாக உள்ளது,” என்று அதன் தலைவர் திரு. குமார் ரத்னம் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். “நாங்கள் மேற்கொள்ளும் புதிய அணுகுமுறை, நீண்டகால மதிப்பை உருவாக்குவதிலும், கருத்து மிக்க தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்துவதிலும் உதவும்.”
