A New Dawn for Education: Unveiling Science Laboratory and Classrooms at Dehiowita Tamil Mahavidyalayam.
March 2, 2024, marked a significant milestone in the journey of Dehiowita Tamil Mahavidyalayam, as the school unveiled its new science laboratory and classroom facilities in a grand opening ceremony. This momentous occasion was made possible through the generous funding by the Canadian Tamil Congress, collected during the 15th annual Tamil Canadian Walk.
The event was graced by the presence of Hon. Eric Walsh, High Commissioner for Canada in Sri Lanka, as the chief guest, alongside a host of distinguished guests including Hon. Mano Ganesan MP, Hon. Velusamy Radhakrishnan MP, and Hon. Sujith Sanjai Perera MP, Hon. M Udayakumar MP. Representing the Canadian Tamil Congress were Danton Thurairajah, Executive Director, Suntharamoorthy Umasuthan, former President, Thushyanthan R. Thurairatnam, Humanitarian Project Coordinator for Sri Lanka and member Asokan Thamboosamy whose contributions were pivotal in bringing this project to fruition.
Dehiowita Tamil Mahavidyalayam, with its rich history dating back to 1906, has been a beacon of knowledge and education in the region. Despite facing a severe setback in 2016 due to a devastating landslide, the spirit of the school and its community remained unbroken. This resilience inspired the Canadian Tamil Congress to step in and ensure that the students of Dehiowita Tamil Mahavidyalayam would have access to modern equiped science lap and class rooms.
The new science laboratory and classrooms are not just physical structures, but symbols of hope, progress, and the enduring strength of community. They stand testament to what can be achieved when we come together for a noble cause. The science laboratory, in particular, is a cornerstone for fostering scientific curiosity and innovation among students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to excel in the modern world.

கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவையின் 15வது வருடாந்த கனடிய தமிழர் நிதிசேர் நடையின்போது திரட்டப்பட்ட நிதியுதவியின் மூலம் இந்த முக்கியமான நிகழ்வு சாத்தியமானது.
இந்நிகழ்வில் இலங்கைக்கான கனடாவின் உயர்ஸ்தானிகர் கௌரவ. எரிக் வோல்ஷ் பிரதம அதிதியாக கலந்து கொண்டதோடு, கௌரவ. மனோ கணேசன் எம்.பி., கௌரவ. வேலுசாமி இராதாகிருஷ்ணன் எம்.பி., மற்றும் கௌரவ. சஜித் சஞ்சய் பெரேரா எம்.பி., கௌரவ. எம்.உதயகுமார் எம்.பி. கனேடிய தமிழ் காங்கிரஸைப் பிரதிநிதித்துவப்படுத்தி, நிறைவேற்றுப் பணிப்பாளர் டான்டன் துரைராஜா, முன்னாள் தலைவர் சுந்தரமூர்த்தி உமாசுதன், இலங்கைக்கான மனிதாபிமான திட்ட இணைப்பாளர் துஷ்யந்தன் ஆர். துரைரட்ணம் மற்றும் உறுப்பினர் அசோகன் தம்புசாமி ஆகியோரும் இந்த நிகழ்வில் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.
தெஹியோவிட்ட தமிழ் மகாவித்தியாலயம், 1906 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் செழுமையான வரலாற்றைக் கொண்டு, இப்பகுதியில் அறிவு மற்றும் கல்வியின் கலங்கரை விளக்கமாக விளங்குகிறது. தெஹியோவித்த தமிழ் மகாவித்தியாலயமானது மண் சரிவு காரணமாக 2016 ஆம் ஆண்டு மிகவும் கடுமையாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டதுடன் கற்றல் நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொள்ள அபாயமான சூழ்நிலையை உருவாக்கியது. இதை அறிந்துகொண்ட கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவை தெஹியோவிட்ட தமிழ் மகாவித்தியாலயத்தின் மாணவர்களுக்கு நவீன தொழில்நுட்ப வசதிகளுடன் கூடிய விஞ்ஞான ஆய்வுகூடம் மற்றும் வகுப்பறைகளை நிர்மாணித்து தருவதாக உறுதியளித்திருந்த நிலையில் இந்த திறப்பு விழா விமர்சையாக நடைபெற்றிருந்தது.
இந்த புதிய விஞ்ஞான ஆய்வுகூடம் மற்றும் வகுப்பறைகள் வெறும் கட்டுமானங்கள் மட்டுமல்ல, நம்பிக்கை, முன்னேற்றம் மற்றும் சமூகத்தின் நீடித்த வலிமையின் சின்னங்கள் ஆகும். ஒரு உன்னத நோக்கத்திற்காக நாம் ஒன்றிணைந்தால் என்ன சாதிக்க முடியும் என்பதற்கு அவை சாட்சியாக நிற்கின்றன. விஞ்ஞான ஆய்வுகூடம், குறிப்பாக, மாணவர்களிடையே அறிவியல் ஆர்வத்தையும் புதுமையையும் வளர்ப்பதற்கும், நவீன உலகில் சிறந்து விளங்குவதற்கான அறிவு மற்றும் திறன்களை அவர்களுக்கு வழங்குவதற்கும் ஒரு அடித்தளமாக அமையும் என்பதோடு தமிழ் மொழியில் இந்த கற்றல் கற்பித்தல்களை தொடரவும் உதவியாக இருக்கும்.
