Canadian Tamil Congress is proud to share that Mullai Night 2025, held on July 6th at Estate Banquet Hall Toronto, was a tremendous success.

Mullai Fashion is more than just clothing; it’s a symbol of resilience, tradition, and hope. The Mullai Handloom initiative was launched to empower Tamil women from Sri Lanka’s war affected North and East by training them in the art of handloom weaving and helping them earn an income of their own. Mullai Night was created to celebrate this vision and raise crucial funds to keep the project thriving and expand its reach to more women waiting for the same chance.

The evening began with the stirring notes of Tamil Thai Vazhthu, setting a tone of pride and unity. Guests were then treated to a rich program of dance performances and beautiful classical music, featuring the soulful sounds of the veenai.
The highlight of the night was the dazzling Mullai Fashion Show, where models showcased stunning handloom sarees and sarangs crafted in the Mullai factory. Many guests themselves wore Mullai creations, filling the hall with vibrant colors and creating a powerful statement of solidarity. It was deeply moving to see everyone united in supporting a cause that uplifts women’s lives and honors Tamil heritage.

Inspiring speeches from dignitaries added to the night’s significance. CTC President Kumar Ratnam spoke passionately about CTC’s enduring mission to support communities in Sri Lanka’s North and East, emphasizing that CTC will continue its work to uplift lives and create sustainable pathways for economic independence. Raveena Rajasingam, on behalf of Mullai Fashion Project Team, shared the vision for the future of Mullai Fashion, highlighting the potential for growth, international recognition, and expanded opportunities for the women artisans behind the initiative. The evening also featured impactful speeches from dignitaries.

Mullai Night 2025 was a vital fundraising endeavor. Through donations, ticket sales, and the enthusiastic support of attendees, significant funds were raised to sustain and expand the Mullai Handloom Weaving Factory in Puthukudiyiruppu. These contributions will help more women learn valuable skills, secure steady employment, and begin to shape their own futures with dignity and confidence.

Each dollar raised will go directly back to the women of Mullai, helping them secure financial independence, dignity, and a brighter future. Canadian Tamil Congress extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended, performed, and contributed to Mullai Night 2025.

கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவை பெருமையுடன் நடாத்திய முல்லை நைட் 2025 நிகழ்ச்சி ஜூலை 6ஆம் திகதி டொரண்டோவில் மிகச்சிறப்பாக நடைபெற்றது.

முல்லை ஃபாஷன் என்பது வெறும் ஆடைகள் அல்ல. அது எங்கள் சமூகத்தின் பெண்களுக்கு தன்னம்பிக்கையையும், வாழ்க்கை முன்னேற்றத்திற்கான வழியையும் ஏற்படுத்திக்கொடுப்பதற்கான ஒரு செயற்திட்டமாகும். இலங்கையின் வடக்கு மற்றும் கிழக்கு பகுதிகளில் யுத்தத்தால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பெண்கள், கைத்தறி நெசவு துறையில் தங்கள் சொந்த வருமானத்தைப் பெறும் வகையில் முல்லை ஃபாஷன் திட்டம் தொடங்கப்பட்டது.

முல்லை நைட் நிகழ்ச்சி தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்துடன் ஆரம்பமாகி, நடனம், வீணை இசை மற்றும் பல கலாச்சார நிகழ்ச்சிகளால் அனைவரையும் மகிழ்வித்திருந்தது.

இவ்விழாவின் சிறப்பம்சமாக முல்லை ஃபாஷன் ஷோ அதிக கவனத்தை ஈர்த்தது. இதன்போது முல்லை நெசவாலையில் தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட கைத்தறி புடவைகள், சறங்கள், அணிகலன்கள் ஆகியவை அழகாக காட்சிப்படுத்தப்பட்டன. நிகழ்வில் கலவந்துகொண்ட பலரும் முல்லை ஆடைகளை அணிந்து வந்தது, ஒருமித்த ஆதரவை வெளிப்படுத்துவதாக அமைந்திருந்தது.

இந்நிகழ்வில், கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவையின் தலைவர் திரு. குமார் இரத்னம் மற்றும் Mullai Fashion திட்டக் குழுவின் பிரதிநிதியான ரவீனா ராஜசிங்கம் உள்ளிட்ட முக்கிய விருந்தினர்கள் உரையாற்றினர். அவர்களது உரையில், இலங்கையின் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பகுதிகளில் வாழும் மக்களுக்கான தொடர்ச்சியான ஆதரவையும், Mullai Fashion மூலம் உருவாகும் பொருளாதார சுதந்திரத்தின் எதிர்கால வாய்ப்புகளையும் வலியுறுத்தினர்.
