Canadian Tamils donate 10 million rupees worth of life saving medicines to the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital

Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) hosts Tamil Canadian Walk-a-thon every year and proceeds from the walk-a-thon has supported several different charitable causes in the past including the Sick Kids Foundation Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and Holland Bloorview Kids Hospital.

As Sri Lanka continues to suffer from its worst financial slump, hospitals increasingly face a shortage of life-saving medicines. Hospitals and health professionals across the island continue to plead for help through donations to purchase basic life-saving medical supplies. Hospitals across the country struggle to maintain a stock of essential medicine to maintain uninterrupted patient treatment.

This year, the 14th annual Tamil Canadian Walk-a-thon raised funds to provide life saving medical supplies to 6 hospitals across Sri Lanka. The first shipment of medicine supplies organized by the Canadian Tamil Congress was handed over to the Tellipalai Trail Cancer Hospital on Tuesday December 20th 2022: The second shipment of medical supplied was handed over to the Batticaloa teaching hospital today, Wednesday April 12th 2023.

Canadian Tamil Congress Coordinator for Humanitarian Projects in Sri Lanka, Thushyanthan Thurairatnam, Batticaloa Teaching Hospital Director Kalaranjani Ganeshalingam, Cancer specialist Dr. A. Iqbal, Dr. Ahilan Sinnathirai, senior hospital officials, doctors, nurses and staff participated at this medicines handover ceremony today.

மட்டக்களப்பு போதனா வைத்தியசாலைக்கு பத்து மில்லியன் ரூபாய்கள் பெறுமதியான மருந்துகள் கனடியத் தமிழர்களால் நன்கொடை !

கனடியத் தமிழர்கள் பத்து மில்லியன் ரூபாய்கள் பெறுமதியான உயிர் காக்கும் மருந்துப் பொருட்களை மட்டக்களப்பு போதனா வைத்தியசாலைக்கு நன்கொடையாக வழங்கியுள்ளனர். கடந்த ஆண்டு கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவையினால் (Canadian Tamil Congress – CTC) ஒழுங்கு செய்யப்பட்ட நிதிசேர் நடையூடாக திரட்டப்பட்ட நிதியின் இரண்டாவது நன்கொடை இதுவாகும், கடந்த ஆண்டு முதலாவது நன்கொடைத் தொகுதி தெல்லிப்பளை ஆதார வைத்தியசாலையிடம் கையளிக்கப்பட்டது. கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவை தமது வருடாந்த நிதிசேர் நடையூடாக வருடந்தோறும் பல்வேறு தொண்டு நிறுவனங்களுக்கு நன்கொடைகளை வழங்கி வருகின்றது.

இலங்கையின் மோசமான பொருளாதாரச் சரிவால் உயிர் காக்கும் மருந்துகளின் பற்றாக்குறையை நாட்டில் உள்ள அனைத்து மருத்துவமனைகளும் அதிகளவில் எதிர்கொண்டு வருகின்றன. இந்தச் சூழலைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு மனிதநேய அடிப்படையில் 2022 ஆம் ஆண்டு கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவையினரால் பதினான்காவது வருடாந்த தமிழ்க் கனடிய நிதிசேர் நடைப ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டு, அதில் திரட்டப்படும் நன்கொடை மூலம் இலங்கையில் வடக்கு, கிழக்கு, மத்தி மற்றும் தெற்கு ஆகிய நான்கு பிராந்தியங்களில் உள்ள ஆறு மருத்துவமனைகளுக்கு உயிர் காக்கும் மருந்துப் பொருட்கள் வழங்குவதெனத் திட்டமிடப்பட்டது.

இந்த நன்கொடையின் இரண்டாம் கட்டமாக கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவையினால் ஒழுங்கமைக்கப்பட்ட இரண்டாம் தொகுதி மருந்துப் பொருட்கள் இன்று ஏப்ரல் 12 புதன்கிழமை 2:30 மணிக்கு மட்டக்களப்பு போதனா வைத்தியசாலைக்கு கையளிக்கப்பட்டது.

மட்டக்களப்பு போதனா வைத்தியசாலை இயக்குனர் மருத்துவர் கலாரஞ்சனி கணேசலிங்கம் தலைமையில் நடைபெற்ற இந்த மருந்து பொறுப்பேற்றல் நிகழ்வில் கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவையின் பிரதிநிதி மற்றும் மனிதாபிமான திட்டங்களின் இணைப்பாளர் இதுரைரத்தினம் துசியந்தன், புற்றுநோய் நிபுணர் மருத்துவர் A இக்பால், நோயியல் நிபுணர் மருத்துவர் அகிலன் சின்னத்துரை மற்றும் பல மருத்துவ நிபுணர்கள், மருத்துவமனை நிர்வாக பொறுப்பதிகாரிகள், வைத்தியர்கள், தாதியர்கள் மற்றும் பணியாளர்கள் என பலரும் கலந்து கொண்டு நிகழ்வினைச் சிறப்பித்தார்கள்.

எதிர்வரும் மாதங்களில் ஏனைய மருத்துவமனைகளுக்குமான நன்கெடைகள் திட்டமிட்டபடி கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவையினால் ஒழுங்கமைக்கப்பட்டு கையளிக்கப்படும்.
