CTC-Funded Voucher Distribution for Individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries in Mullaitivu

On May 18, 2025, 30 individuals living with spinal cord injuries in the Mullaitivu district, identified by the Uyirilai Spinal Cord Injury Association, each received a gift voucher worth Rs. 5,000. These vouchers were redeemable at the Made in Mullaitivu Local Producers Store, located in the heart of Mullaitivu town.

Out of the 30 beneficiaries, 22 individuals or their family members visited the outlet on May 18th to redeem their vouchers. The remaining eight beneficiaries, who were unable to travel due to physical limitations, will receive their selected products delivered directly to their homes.

As an added benefit, all recipients were granted a 10% discount on their purchases, enabling each person to access goods valued up to Rs. 5,500.

This initiative was made possible through generous donations received from attendees of the Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC)’s Mullivaikal Remembrance event held in Toronto on May 18, 2025.

The Made in Mullaitivu Local Producers Outlet is a project funded by the CTC, aimed at supporting and empowering local producers in Sri Lanka’s war-affected North and East by promoting their products and creating sustainable livelihoods.

உயிரிழை முள்ளந்தண்டு பாதிப்புற்றோர் அமைப்பு (Uyirilai Spinal Cord Injury Association) மூலம் அடையாளம் காணப்பட்ட முதுகெலும்பு பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மட்டக்களப்பை சேர்ந்த 30 பயனாளிகளுக்கு முல்லைத்தீவு நகரில் அமைந்துள்ள மேட் இன் முல்லைத்தீவு உள்ளூர் உற்பத்திகளை ஊக்குவிப்போம் காட்சியறையில் பயன்படுத்தக் கூடியவாறு ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் தலா 5,000 ரூபாய் மதிப்புள்ள கொடுப்பனவுக் கூப்பன்கள் வழங்கிவைக்கப்பட்டது.

மே 18, 2025 அன்று பயனாளிகளில் 22 பேர் அல்லது அவர்களின் குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்கள் மேட் இன் முல்லைத்தீவு காட்சியறைக்கு நேரில் வந்து இந்த கூப்பன்களை பயன்படுத்தியிருந்தனர். உடல் நலக்குறைவால் நேரில் வர முடியாமல் இருந்த 8 பயனாளிகளிற்கு அவர்கள் தேர்ந்தெடுத்த பொருட்கள் நேரடியாக அவர்களது வீடுகளுக்கே எடுத்துச்செல்லப்பட்டு கையளிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.

மேலும் அவர்களது கொள்முதல் பெறுமதியில் 10% தள்ளுபடி வழங்கப்பட்டதால் ஒவ்வொருவரும் ரூ.5,500 வரை மதிப்புள்ள பொருட்களை பெற்றுக்கொள்ளக்கூடியதாக இருந்தது.

இந்த முயற்சி 2025 மே 18 அன்று கனடாவின் டொராண்டோவில் நடைபெற்ற கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவையின் முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் நினைவேந்தலில் கலந்துகொண்டவர்களால் வழங்கப்பட்ட உதவித் தொகை மூலம் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டிருந்தது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

மேட் இன் முல்லைதீவு உள்ளூர் உற்பத்திகளை ஊக்குவிப்போம் செயற்திட்டமானது யுத்தத்தால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட வடக்கு மற்றும் கிழக்கில் உள்ள உள்ளூர் உற்பத்தியாளர்களை ஆதரிக்கும் நோக்கில் கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவையால் நிதியளிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு திட்டமாகும். இந்த செயற்திட்டத்தின் மூலம் உள்ளூர் உற்பத்தியாளர்களின் சந்தை தரத்தை மேம்படுத்துவதுடன் நிலையான வாழ்வாதார வாய்ப்புகளையும் உருவாக்கக்கூடியதாக இருக்கும்.
