G.U. Pope Monument in Canada Project Launch by the Canadian Tamil Congress
Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) hosted a press conference to launch the G.U. Pope Monument Campaign in Canada and seek support for the Anbudan Thamil Music Concert. The press conference was held on Monday April 10th 2023 at the Canadian Tamil Chamber of Commerce (CTCC) office in Markham.
The 2023 Anbudan Thamil Music Concert will support the historical initiative, to build a monument for an outstanding Canadian born Tamil scholar, G.U. Pope at his birth place in Bedeque, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
CTC President Sivan Ilangko, Mr. Ponniah Vivekananthan, Tamil lecturer of University of Toronto, Ms. Sylvia Francis of Agni Music group and Mr. Aravinthan Mahesan of the Megatuners music group spoke at this press conference and answered to the questions form Tamil medias.
கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவையினால், கனடாவில் ஜி.யு.போப் அவர்களுக்கு நினைவுச்சின்னம் அமைக்கும் முயற்சிக்கு நிதி திரட்டுமுகமாக, “அன்புடன் தமிழ் இசை நிகழ்வு – 2023” க்கு ஆதரவு கோரி, கடந்த ஏப்ரல் 10, 2023 திங்கட்கிழமை அன்று மார்க்கம் நகரில் அமைந்துள்ள கனடியத் தமிழர் வர்த்தக சம்மேளன அலுவலகத்தில் ஊடகவியலாளர் மாநாடு நடத்தப்பட்டது.
“அன்புடன் தமிழ் இசை நிகழ்வு – 2023” இசை நிகழ்ச்சியானது, கனடாவில் பிறந்த தமிழ் அறிஞரான ஜி.யு.போப் அவர்களுக்கு அவரது பிறந்த கிராமமான PEI மாகாணத்தின் பெடேக்கில், நினைவுச்சின்னம் அமைக்கும் வரலாற்று முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்த முயற்சிக்கு நிதி ஆதரவு தேடும் நிகழ்வாகும்.
