Tamil Fest 2026 Moves to Markham
Markham, ON – June 10, 2026 – The Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) is thrilled to announce that Tamil Fest, the premier Tamil cultural street festival is moving to the City of Markham beginning with the highly anticipated 2026 edition.
For more than a decade, Tamil Fest has served as a proud symbol of Tamil culture and achievement, bringing together communities from across Canada and around the world. Recognized as the largest Tamil Street festival outside of South Asia, Tamil Fest attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year from Canada, the United States, Europe, and beyond. The festival provides a vibrant platform to showcase and celebrate the rich history, enduring heritage, diverse artistic traditions, and world-class cuisine of the Tamil community, while fostering cultural understanding, pride, and connection for future generations.
This year, the festival enters an exciting new era. We are incredibly grateful to Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti and the City of Markham for welcoming Tamil Fest to Markham. Tamil Fest 2026 will take place on Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23, 2026.

We as organizers are already hard at work planning an unforgettable weekend featuring live musical performances, traditional dance showcases, interactive cultural exhibits, and a massive array of food vendors highlighting authentic Tamil culinary delights. CTC invites all Canadians, vendors, sponsors, and media partners to mark their calendars for this spectacular summer tradition. மார்க்கம், ஒன்ராறியோ – ஜூன் 10, 2026 – மிகவும் ஆவலுடன் எதிர்பார்க்கப்படும் தமிழர் தெருவிழா (Tamil Fest) 2026, இவ்வாண்டு முதல் மார்க்கம் நகரத்தில் நடைபெறும் என்பதை கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவை பெருமகிழ்ச்சியுடன் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறது.

கடந்த பத்து ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாக, தமிழர் தெருவிழா தமிழ்ப் பண்பாடு மற்றும் சாதனைகளின் பெருமைமிக்க அடையாளமாகத் திகழ்ந்து, கனடா மற்றும் உலகெங்கிலும் உள்ள சமூகங்களை ஒன்றிணைத்து வருகிறது. தெற்காசியாவிற்கு வெளியே நடைபெறும் மிகப்பெரிய தமிழ்ப் பண்பாட்டு தெருத்திருவிழாவாக அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள தமிழர் தெருவிழா ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் கனடா, அமெரிக்கா, ஐரோப்பா மற்றும் பிற நாடுகளிலிருந்து இலட்சக்கணக்கான பார்வையாளர்களை ஈர்க்கிறது. தமிழ் சமூகத்தின் செழுமையான வரலாறு, அழியாத பாரம்பரியம், பன்முகத்தன்மை கொண்ட கலை மரபுகள் மற்றும் உலகத்தரம் வாய்ந்த உணவு வகைகளைக் காட்சிப்படுத்தவும் கொண்டாடவும் இந்தத் திருவிழா ஒரு துடிப்பான தளத்தை வழங்குகிறது. அதே நேரத்தில், இது எதிர்கால சந்ததியினரிடையே பண்பாடு பற்றிய புரிதல், பெருமை மற்றும் பிணைப்பை வளர்க்கிறது.
இந்த ஆண்டில் இத்தெருத்திருவிழா ஒரு புதிய உற்சாகமான சகாப்தத்திற்குள் நுழைகிறது. இதற்காக, மார்க்கம் மாநகர முதல்வர் பிராங்க் ஸ்கார்பிட்டி மற்றும் மார்க்கம் நகரசபைக்கு எங்களது மனமார்ந்த நன்றிகளைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறோம். தமிழர் தெருவிழா 2026 வருகின்ற ஆகஸ்ட் மாதம் 22 சனிக்கிழமை மற்றும் 23 ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை ஆகிய நாட்களில் நடைபெறும் என்பதையும் உற்சாகத்தோடு தெரிவித்துக்கொள்கின்றோம்.

இந்த மாற்றம் தொடர்பாக மார்க்கம் மாநகர முதல்வர் ஸ்கார்பிட்டி பின்வருமாறு தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
“வணக்கம் தமிழ் ஃபெஸ்ட்! தமிழ் ஃபெஸ்ட் மார்க்கம் நகரத்திற்கு மாறுவதை இட்டு நான் பெருமகிழ்ச்சி அடைகிறேன். தமிழ் பாரம்பரியம், கலை, பண்பாடு மற்றும் தமிழ் உணவுகளின் இந்த துடிப்பான கொண்டாட்டத்தை அன்போடு வரவேற்கிறேன். மார்க்கம் நகரம் குழந்தைகளைக் கொண்ட இளம் தமிழ் குடும்பங்களையும், சுறுசுறுப்பாக இயங்கும் தமிழ் சமூகத்தையும் தன்னுள் கொண்ட ஒரு இடமாகும். தமிழ் ஃபெஸ்ட் என்பது அனைவருக்கும் ஒரு அற்புதமான அனுபவமாக அமையும்.”
தமிழர் தெருவிழாவை மார்க்கம் நகரத்திற்கு மாற்றுவது, சமூக வளர்ச்சிக்கும் ஆழமான சமூக உறவுக்கும் ஒரு மிகப்பெரிய வாய்ப்பாக அமையும். கனடாவின் மிகவும் பன்முகத்தன்மை கொண்ட மற்றும் ஆற்றல்மிக்க நகரங்களில் ஒன்றாக மார்க்கம் விளங்குவதால் எங்களது பண்பாட்டை வெளிப்படுத்த இது மிகச்சிறந்த களமாகும். இந்த மாற்றத்தை எவ்வித தடையுமின்றிச் சாத்தியமாக்கிய மார்க்கம் மாநகர முதல்வருக்கும், நகர அதிகாரிகளுக்கும் எங்களது மனமார்ந்த நன்றிகள். கடந்த 10 ஆண்டுகளாக தமிழர் தெருவிழாவுக்குப் பெருமை சேர்த்த அதே ஆற்றலையும், உணர்வையும், உற்சாகத்தையும் இம்முறையும் கொண்டு வருவோம் என உறுதியளிக்கிறோம்.
ஏற்கனவே ஏற்பாட்டாளர்களாகிய நாங்கள், நேரடி இசை நிகழ்ச்சிகள், பாரம்பரிய நடனக் கலைகள், பண்பாட்டுக் கண்காட்சிகள் மற்றும் உண்மையான தமிழ் சுவைகளை வெளிப்படுத்தும் பிரம்மாண்டமான உணவு அரங்குகளை உள்ளடக்கிய ஒரு மறக்க முடியாத வார இறுதி நாட்களைத் திட்டமிடுவதில் தீவிரமாகப் பணியாற்றி வருகிறோம். இந்தச் சிறப்பான கோடைகால பாரம்பரிய விழாவைக் குறிப்பேட்டில் குறித்து வைத்துக் கொள்ளுமாறு அனைத்து கனடியர்கள், வர்த்தகர்கள், அனுசரணையாளர்கள், ஆதரவாளர்கள் மற்றும் ஊடகத் துறையினருக்கு கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவை அழைப்பு விடுக்கிறது. விழா நடைபெறும் குறிப்பிட்ட தெருவின் இருப்பிடம், வர்த்தகர்களுக்கான விண்ணப்பங்கள் மற்றும் அதிகாரப்பூர்வ கலை நிகழ்ச்சிகளின் விபரங்கள் வரவிருக்கும் வாரங்களில் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளப்படும்.
