The Canadian Tamil Congress shares sympathy with victims of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey and urges Tamil Canadians to donate to support urgent relief efforts

The Canadian Tamil Congress would like to share our sympathy and concern for the people of Syria and Turkey, reeling from the ravage left behind by Monday’s earthquake. Natural disasters striking a war-torn region is a very familiar scene to many Tamils, particularly those who fled Sri Lanka.

Today (Feb 8), the death toll in Syria and Turkey has risen to over 11,000, and thousands more are injured, homeless, and left vulnerable, including children and elders. As the window to rescue those under the rubble is closing fast, and temperature in some areas is expected to fall to freezing, the Canadian Tamil Congress urges Canadians to show their support by donating to organizations providing life-saving aid to Turkey and Syria.
