Update on CTC’s COVID-19 Food Relief Effort in the Ampara District of Sri Lanka

May 17, 2020.

 On Thursday May 14th, a total 150 families from Sangamankandy (47) and Urani (50) villages in the Puttuvil DS division and Nerupuram (53) in Thirukkovil DS Divisions of Amparai District received the food relief packages from Tamil Canadians.

Food relief packs were distributed among most vulnerable groups of women headed families, ex-combatants, and differently-abled-people of these DS divisions.

Each relief package for one family contained 5 kg of Rice, 2 kg of Flour, 1 kg of Sugar, 500 grams of Lentils, 1 kg of Salt, 1 kg of big onion, and 50 grams of Tea.

A total of 450 most vulnerable families in the Ampara district have received CTCs’ COVID-19 food relief through the NEED centre with the help of local leaders and volunteers up to now.
