March 2, 2024, marked a significant milestone in the journey of Dehiowita Tamil Mahavidyalayam, as the school unveiled its new science laboratory and classroom facilities in a grand opening ceremony. This momentous occasion was made possible through the generous funding by the Canadian Tamil Congress, collected during the 15th annual Tamil Canadian Walk.
On the 22nd of February, 2024, a significant stride was made towards economic sustainability and job creation in Thiraimadu, Batticaloa, with the inauguration of the Canada-Batticaloa Friendship Farm, Kail T Rajah Project. This landmark initiative, a collaborative effort between the Canadian Tamil Congress and the North and East Economic Development (NEED) Centre, is not just about agricultural innovation but a step towards economic independence for the local community.
Several hundreds including the Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow participated at the 15th Annual Tamil Canadian Walk held on Sunday September 10th 2023 at the Thomson Memorial Park in Scarborough. Tamil Canadian Walk is hosted by the Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) and this year's walk supported the building of a science lab in the Dehiowita Tamil Mahavidyalayam (school) in the Kegalle district in Sri Lanka, which was severely impacted by landslides.
